PREPARATION OF ULTRAFINE POWDER OF Fe AND ZrO_2 WITH METASTABLE PHASES BY HIGH POWER LASER BEAMS

The radiation of material surface by high intensity laser beams is used to produce the uhrafine powder of pure Fe and ZrO_2.The morphology,size and phases of the powder were examined by X-ray diffraetometer,scanning electron microscopy as well as transmission electron microscopy.In pure Fe a considerable quantity of γ-phase was found in the powder.In ZrO_2 powder,instead of stable phase,two metastable phases appeared.

On the Indeterminacy in Hardness of Shape Memory Alloys

The present communication addresses an interesting problem related to the indeterminacy in hardness of superelastic NiTi reported by Xu et al. The origin of the indeterminacy is attributed to the inadequacy of the conventional Vickers hardness testing measurement which does not record elastic deformation, and thus the indeterminacy may be removed with suitable techniques. Concepts of hardness in relation to deformation are clarified. Recommendations for measuring the hardness of NiTi and other elastic-plastic materials are suggested, together with comments on the advantages and disadvantages of each of these methods.

Broer-Kaup-Kupershmidt方程的新精确解

CK方法是求解非线性发展方程的一种有效的直接方法.利用推广的CK方法,求得(2+1)维Broer-Kaup-Kupershmidt方程的Backlund公式,从而获得方程的大量新的精确解,推广了Xu和Zhang的结果.

Thermodynamic analyses of strain-induced martensite transformation in Fe-7Mn-1.2C alloy

The M-s temperature, Delta G(gamma-->alpha), Delta G(gamma-->M) and mechanical energy under a non-severe impact loading in a medium manganese steel (Fe-7Mn-1.2C) have been calculated by means of Xu's Fe-X-C model. The relation between the yield strength of austenite and the driving force for martensite transformation has been established. It is proved that the martensite transformation can take place in a medium manganese steel (Fe-7Mn-1.2C alloy) under a non-severe impact loading.

A modified nucleation and competitive growth kinetic theory considering unsteady nucleation and effect of composition in dilute binary alloys was suggested,based on which the selections of δ.δ' and α phases in undercooled Al-Li melts were summarized by both isothermal and continuous cool- ing treatment methods.

CHARACTERIZATION OF Sil-x-yGexCy FILMS GROWN BY ION IMPLANTATION AND SUBSEQUENT SOLID PHASE EPITAXY

Si1-y-GexCy ternary alloy films were grown on monocrystalline silicon substratesby C+ ion implantation and subsequent solid phase epitaxy (SPE). Two-step anneal-ing technique was employed in the SPE. The structure and electrical properties of thealloy films were determined using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and vander Pauw Hall measurements, respectively. With the optimization of two-step anneal-ing technique for the implanted Si1-x-y GexCy layers, a certain amount of C atomsoccupied substitutional sites and no SiC was formed.

EUTECTIC GROWTH OF CAST IRON UNDER RAPID SOLIDIFICATION

The eutectic growth of cast iron during rapid solidification has been studied with laser remelt- ing and deep etching technology.A new mode of mushroom eutectic growth was observed oth- er than the usual honeycomb and lamellar ones.The mushroom eutectic growth may finally form the lamellar dendritic structure.
